Internet can be defined as a group of interconnected networks, that use a variety of TCP/IPs protocols, this guarantees that all physical networks work as a unique world wide logic network. Its origins go back to 1969 when the first connection between computers was established known as ARPANET, it linked three universities in california and one un Utha. |
One of the most successful services in Internet has been the World Wide Web (www), there has even been confusion between terms (Internet and www), the WWW is a set group of protocols that allow in its simplest way the query of hypertext files, this was a late development and it uses the Internet as its means of transmission.
Therefore are many other services and protocols over the internet: the delivery of electronic mail (SMTP), file transfer (FTP and P2P), Online conversations (IRC), Instant messaging and presence, content transmission and multimedia communication, VoIP telephony, television (IPTV), electronic news broadcast, remote access to devises (SSH and Telnet), online gaming, etc.
